While making my way to work in 2011 along Powell Street in downtown Vancouver I was given a pamphlet while waiting at a traffic light. The guy who approached me as I sat at the light mumbled something about 'Save the downtown Eastside' as he presented his informative missive. The title read 'BOYCOTT! Pantages/Sequel 138 - Condo$ are Destroying Our Low-Income Community'. This is asking the working, contributing taxpayer to support their quest to maintain the tattered, depressing hell-hole that is our downtown Eastside. Let's save the slums, the misery, the abject poverty and the legions of drug-addled, homeless people wandering into traffic. Vancouver's downtown Eastside eats the city from within, spreading its filth and drug addiction through violence and crime, affecting the lives of all that live and work…

And so life continues... My ability to walk up hills or even slight inclines without feeling winded was becoming a real concern and even though my GP suggested it was due to age and "being out of shape" (which is easy for a guy in his early 30's to say and not completely true in my case), I insisted on a cardiologist referral. It was a good thing I insisted. After numerous scans and tests it was established that I had Atrial Fibrillation, an irregular heart rhythm that begins in the heart's upper chambers with symptoms including fatigue, heart palpitations, trouble breathing and dizziness. The battle these days is to find copies of surviving or reissued albums worth your time and money. I suggest you get yourself copies of the following ten albums which may be available in your local record store or on Discogs, eBay, Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace and one of the many online sources for quality vinyl. Be warned that you may have to hunt for quality copies as most have not been reissued.
