United Boulevard Launch

United Boulevard Launch

Arts, Business, Entertainment, Events, Food, Of Interest
Some time ago I was scouring the internet for a list of furniture stores on United Boulevard in Coquitlam, the area commonly referred to as Mecca for furniture shoppers. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a comprehensive list or even a web site to help me with my search. The tiny gears in my head started spinning, the light went on, I yelled "eureka!" then promptly forgot all about it. Until about a month ago. After many, many hours of sometimes tedious work, lots of phone calls and a slow drive through the United Boulevard area taking notes, I've just launched UnitedBoulevard.com, a site that I hope will help others looking for the same information I was and help customers find the products and services available in this fantastic shopping area. We've…

Even More Apps You Can’t Live Without

Education, Entertainment, Internet, Observations, Of Interest, Technology
After reviewing my last posts meager list I realized I hadn't discussed some other great iPhone apps that make my life complete. Needless to say there's thousands and thousands of apps available for download and a lot of them are complete shit but those I list here are the ones I think do the job better than most. And more often than not, are free. Yeah, I thought you'd like that part. Not that I'm adverse to spending money on a good app (as mentioned in my previous post) but free is always nice, especially if the software does what it's supposed to and doesn't make my life miserable. So here's a few more apps you may find interesting... One of the best free news aggregators available is Fluent News,…

Two Recommendations

Entertainment, Food, Observations, Of Interest
I'm not big into recommending stuff to people I don't know but I thought some of you may enjoy these two completely unrelated visual and gastronomical items: RECOMMENDATION #1: If you enjoy quirky and inventive movies I sugest you see Kick-Ass. Yes, I know...it sounds like another dopey teen superhero flick and you're partially right. It starts out with the typical socially inept, Peter Parker-type main character that morphes into the film's superhero but it becomes uncharacteristically dark about 30 minutes in. Once you've heard an 11-year old girl use the 'C' word, all bets are off. Obviously, this isn't family or first date fare but it's a refreshing take on the typical Spider Man, Superman and other processed superhero pablum we've all become familiar with. And McLovin is in…

The sorry state of pop music

Entertainment, Music, Observations, Rants
Pop music officially entered the 'complete shit' phase of it's existence with the recent appearance of The Black Eyed Peas on the American Idol Gives Back broadcast. Don't believe me? Take a gander at the video below but be sure to have a small bucket handy while you watch this piece of visual and aural excrement. The Black Eyed Peas also appear on the cover of the April 29 edition of Rolling Stone magazine with the tagline Black Eyed Peas - The Science Of Global Pop Domination. THIS is what it takes to dominate pop music in the 21st century? Bad costumes à la Earth Wind & Fire during their metallic spandex period and off-key, teeth-gritting vocals? Ridiculous and utterly goofy. But at least Earth Wind & Fire could write…
