Worse than H1N1

Politics
Our Liberal government is turning into a worse virus than the dreaded Swine Flu. The latest move by these infectious morons, specifically gaming minister Rich Coleman, is to increase the B.C. Lottery online gaming limit from $120 per week to a whopping $10,000 under the guise of saving the great unwashed from the evil clutches of those skanky 'offshore' gaming sites. That's a 8,300 per cent increase in the amount of money that morons can blow on the Internet. Way to go Mr. Coleman et al. It's obviously another blatant cash grab by our greedy and brainless elected representatives to shore up their leaking coffers and increase the gambling revenue stream to which they themselves have become addicted. The interesting thing about the exercise is that the B.C. Lottery online…

Unhealthy healthcare

Politics
The NDP have leaked the Liberal government's plans for our beleaguered health care system and it ain't pretty. The proposed reductions, according to today's Province newspaper are; - 5800 postponed surgeries - 13.5 closed operating rooms - 112 jobs cut - 13 anesthesia positions eliminated - $90 million in total cuts over the next seven months Disgusting to say the least. But we can always scrape up $1 billion dollars for the Olympics security bill, right? Of course. How about raises for the politician pinheads that come up with this crap. Righto! And to top it all off how about adding additional tax to everything under the sun by introducing the HST? Brilliant. As someone that's been dropped into the middle of our floundering healthcare system I can report that…

The Evil HST

Politics
So our fearless leader has announced that B.C. will be adopting the HST (Harmonized Sales Tax) next year which will apply tax to items previously enjoyed as exempt. Gee...whatta suprise. Since when have any politicians actually honoured their election promises and not felt the need to dip into our pockets when things got a tad rough? We're slowly pulling ourselves out of a recession so our government has decided to kick us while we're down and charge more for less. Even our favourite wing picker Bill Vander Zalm is crying foul against this latest indignity and stepping up to protest. He was quoted in regards to the announcement timing as "...not a bad political move to do it this way, be we best be aware that it is a political…

Treating us like babies

Politics
As we tut-tut the recent events in Iran we should look within our own government and wonder if some of the ridiculous things they do are similar to events here in Canada. Though we obviously can't compare the religious zealots heading the Iranian government to our own Conservatives, their recent policy shift regarding public accounting of our involvement in the Afghanistan war smacks of treating Canadian taxpayers like babies. It's another case of not telling the very people that pay the bills how the money is being spent. The Federal New Democratic party requested the information but the Defence Department cited a national-security exemption and refused to release the numbers as they had done previously. How in hell can the very government we employ refuse to tell US, the people…
