Icky Pop

Entertainment, Observations, People, Rants
I was never an Iggy Pop fan. During his Stooges stint from 1968 to 1975 he was a non-event in my musical world. Even his collaborations with David Bowie (during their drug addictions and subsequent attempts to quit) left me wondering what The Thin White Duke was thinking. What the hell did anyone see in Iggy Pop? That question was once again front and centre during Mr. Pop's recent appearance on American Idol. Yup...that's right. The 62 year-old punk rocker performed on a recent show and left us all thinking that the American Idol producers had lost their collective minds. Here's a shirtless, creepy looking flashback to the 70's flinging himself around the stage while attempting to sing 'I'm A Wild One' while showing us all how cruel age can…

Even as a born and bred Canadian I was fascinated with the rise and fall of Eliot Spitzer. He's the guy that, as Attorney General of New York State, went after the wall street bandits, suing the thieves that ran large and highly profitable companies they used as their personal piggy banks. It was nice to see a politician, American or otherwise, actually do something that most wanted done and aggressively sue the wolves that wear expensive sheep's clothing. Some would argue that Spitzer, had he not run for New York governor and continued his wall street manhunt, may have changed the course of a future global economic meltdown and helped avert the catastrophe that was to follow. Others think he was just another arrogant, self absorbed, meddling, asshole politician.…

Some time ago I wrote a piece on a humorous website and it's Australian author, David Thorne. It was a glowing report of what I thought were hilarious email exchanges between Mr. Thorne and his victims. They were hilarious. Well, until he stole my money. Only July 23, 2010 I decided to purchase his book, The Internet is a Playground, and ordered it directly from his website. I was expecting a 1 or 2 week wait. Over a month later I dropped him a note inquiring on the status of my book order. No answer. After many, many emails, each becoming a bit more pleading than the last I abandoned any civility and sent the following note on September 20, 2010: After numerous attempts asking you NICELY to refund my…

Mountain Morons

Assholes, People, Rants
Two more idiots have been rescued after snowboarding out of bounds on Cypress Mountain. Their excuse was they "were just attracted to the snow". I wonder how attracted they are to dying in the cold? Perhaps it's time we left these morons to their own devices if they refuse to stay on the designated slopes and insist on venturing into dangerous territory. Perhaps after a handful of these twits got lost and died on the mountain the others might smarten up and stop wasting the resources of police and rescue personnel who risk their own lives to save their sorry asses. The two masked idiots flanking a red-jacketed rescuer in the above photo called emergency services at 3:40pm after snowboarding about a kilometre down a gully. "We were cold and…
