Some time ago I wrote a piece on a humorous website and it's Australian author, David Thorne. It was a glowing report of what I thought were hilarious email exchanges between Mr. Thorne and his victims. They were hilarious. Well, until he stole my money. Only July 23, 2010 I decided to purchase his book, The Internet is a Playground, and ordered it directly from his website. I was expecting a 1 or 2 week wait. Over a month later I dropped him a note inquiring on the status of my book order. No answer. After many, many emails, each becoming a bit more pleading than the last I abandoned any civility and sent the following note on September 20, 2010: After numerous attempts asking you NICELY to refund my…

Even More Apps You Can’t Live Without

Education, Entertainment, Internet, Observations, Of Interest, Technology
After reviewing my last posts meager list I realized I hadn't discussed some other great iPhone apps that make my life complete. Needless to say there's thousands and thousands of apps available for download and a lot of them are complete shit but those I list here are the ones I think do the job better than most. And more often than not, are free. Yeah, I thought you'd like that part. Not that I'm adverse to spending money on a good app (as mentioned in my previous post) but free is always nice, especially if the software does what it's supposed to and doesn't make my life miserable. The dumb B.C. taxpayer

The dumb B.C. taxpayer

Observations, Politics, The Law
With the recent guilty pleas and sentencing of David Basi and Bobby Virk for their part in the BC Rail corruption trial, it proves one thing that the present Liberal government has known for years and depend upon during every provincial election. That is that British Columbia tax payers are exceedingly dumb. Who else would believe that two senior government officials could accept $75,000 in inducements, plead guilty, receive a slap on the wrist and not pay a cent in legal fees. Yup...the taxpayer that foots the bill for this fiasco. This is the same province that is suffering under the weight of other stupid Liberal decisions such as the much-hated HST. Which begs the questions "How much is too much and when do we say enough?" The list of…

Another Asshole

Assholes, Observations, People, Rants
The world is full of assholes but I seem to run across my fair share on a regular basis. The newest recipient of the AprilRoad.com 'Asshole of the Week' award is Simon Swanwick, a New Jersey resident who managed to waste almost 5 hours of my time and have the audacity to berate me for it. This guy is truly a treat. Here's the story in a nutshell: I offer users of an open-source bulk email software system a variety of services including installation, configuration and tutoring. This idiot contacted me requesting I install the software on his web server, configure it and then walk him through the process of creating and sending messages. I should have been suspicious when he mentioned that a previous consultant had bailed on him…
