We Need Our Own John & Ken

Of Interest, People, Rants
Talk radio in Greater Vancouver sucks, which is no secret to anyone that bothers to listen to the lame offerings on AM and FM stations. The few talk show hosts on the air don't offer hard-hitting, unbiased and accurate information for its listeners, unlike KFI AM in Los Angeles, California who have the on-air team of John Kobylt and Ken Chiampou on their roster. In my opinion they're what talk radio should be, especially here in Greater Vancouver. I've listened to John & Ken for years, for a short time on 1410 AM here in Greater Vancouver and now via the KFI AM stream and Podcasts on my Squeezeboxes. They've never fail to enlighten, educate and amuse, answering to no one except their listeners and residents of California. These guys…

Notes On The News

Of Interest, Olympics, People, Politics
A few notes on the news over the last few days: - Liberal Olympic Tickets: These clowns make it too easy for me by presenting another pathetic example of how the Winter Olympics is nothing more than a cash grab by politicians and select business owners. A few of the brightest bulbs within our elected Liberal government decided to allocate approximately one million taxpayer dollars to purchase Olympic event tickets to be used by Liberal MLA's and Cabinet ministers. How galling is it that we're forced to pay for this fiasco ONCE then pay again to purchase tickets for the very idiots that got us into this financial mess. Minister of State for the Olympics, Mary McNeil, responded to media questions regarding the cash payout by assuring "None on these…

People
Well it looks like Constance Barnes is back to work at The Vancouver Parks Board despite pleading guilty to drunk-driving and dangerous-driving charges. Yes folks, you too can drive you car into a house with a blood alcohol level of 0.210 and still retain your cushy city job on the Parks Board. You can even have a history of drunk driving that put one person in a wheelchair for life and resulted in a father's bankruptcy due to the resulting lawsuit. Life is good for Ms. Barnes isn't it? During her court appearance on Thursday Barnes apologized to homeowner Lim Lee and his family who live in the house struck by her car. The victim however is still having 'nightmares' about seeing her car veering toward his front door. I'm…

Have a heart

People
Chris Kirby is a 34 year old Port Moody resident with a wife and two year old daughter. He's also a guy that needs a heart...literally. Chris was healthy enough to run a half-marathon two years ago but now can't lift his daughter, jog or hold a job due to a heart that works at about 20-per-cent capacity. He's confined to his house while his wife works and his daughter goes to a babysitter which must be more than frustrating for a guy that was physically active just a short time ago. The problem is that Chris needs a heart transplant but there are just not enough donor hearts available these days. The median wait time for a heart transplant in 2006 was two months, in 2007 three months and…
