A (not so good) good neighbour

My neighbour's dog attacked my dog while we were walking though the neighbourhood a few weeks ago. I took my dog home, checked his injuries and went back to discuss the event. She was extremely apologetic and maintained that she usually leashes her dog when he's in the un-fenced front yard however I've heard from other neighbours that this same dog has attached other pets in the past and she has delivered the same excuses. My neighbour, on a fixed income and going through some very tough personal and financial times, offered to pay the vet bill even though she was obviously in no position to do so. We didn't accept her offer of course but perhaps if she had actually been responsible enough to ensure her dog couldn't get…

During the last municipal election there was a significant amount of chatter on the aprilroad.com discussion forum (no longer available) and a few incumbents were targeted for ridicule. All's fair in love and war, right? Wrong, according to one of our city councillors. I sent emails to the election winners and losers inviting them to participate in the aprilroad.com podcast to discuss their experiences and their thoughts on our city. Most replied, and a few agreed to participate (some of which you can hear on the aprilroad.com Podcast page (no longer available). A few others, including Shane Kennedy and Mayor Trasolini, will be interviewed soon and will be posted on aprilroad.com in the coming weeks. Port Moody cleans up the garbage business

I'm an avid recycler and do my part for the planet. In fact I did my part before it was fashionable to do my part so I have no problems sorting, bagging and boxing my stuff for pickup. After suffering with the lack lustre performance of our contracted garbage and recycling pickup service the city is getting back into the business of refuse. That's great because I was tired of watching the garbage and recycling blow around the neighbourhood because the pickup day had come and gone. We would leave our garbage cans and recycling box and bags curbside in case they were picked up the next day or the day after or the day after that. It was maddening and I'm happy they've been fired.
