And to the crane truck driver that forgot to lower the boom before driving under the Moody Street overpass, nicely done ya schmoe! There's a large number of commuters and residents that would like to know exactly where you learned to drive and if you've ever driven a crane truck before. This picture was taken on my camera phone from across the tracks in the WestCoast Express parking lot as I was trying to figure out how to get across to my spouse waiting in the Rocky Point Park parking lot. Not a great shot but you can make out the white truck cab and the boom resting against the overpass.

Good riddance

People
I can honestly say that I'm not terribly upset that Tom Elton shot his wife Brenda Blondell to death yesterday. Both were convicted murderers, both were low-lifes and both should be off the streets. I'm guessing that Mya Kulchyski, who Ms. Blondell was convicted of murdering wouldn't be terribly upset either. One down, one to go.

On being the landlord

We recently purchased a revenue property and have now officially entered the world of the landlord. This side of the business is fairly new to us and neither have rented for many years so we're quickly educating ourselves about how to find a good tenant, what paperwork needs to be produced and how to get a full nights sleep without waking bolt upright and screaming at the top of our lungs "WHAT THE HELL HAVE WE DONE?!?". Needless to say it hasn't all been pretty. We're in the midst of finding a tenant using newspapers and craigslist and can report that the response has been quite good but the various inquiries, requests, wish lists, critical requirements, demands, pleadings, observations and even advice from applicants has been more than varied. Treating us like babies

As we tut-tut the recent events in Iran we should look within our own government and wonder if some of the ridiculous things they do are similar to events here in Canada. Though we obviously can't compare the religious zealots heading the Iranian government to our own Conservatives, their recent policy shift regarding public accounting of our involvement in the Afghanistan war smacks of treating Canadian taxpayers like babies. It's another case of not telling the very people that pay the bills how the money is being spent. The Federal New Democratic party requested the information but the Defence Department cited a national-security exemption and refused to release the numbers as they had done previously.
