100 Reasons

Of Interest, Politics
Looking for 100 good reasons NOT to vote for the Liberals on May 14, 2013? Well look no further than I'm Laila Yuile, and This Is How I See It. Ms. Yuile's blog lists the various lies, deceptions and atrocities perpetrated by our present provincial government since their unfortunate rise to power. I'm among the guilty that voted for these Liberal a-holes but times have changed and the list makes a disturbingly convincing case to change my allegiance and future voting habits. Listed among the top 100 are Campbell's Hawaiian drunk driving charge, self-administered huge pay raises for MLA's and Gordon Campbell, medical services cutbacks, the Basi/Virk fiasco, BC Rail, the HST and a host of others you may have forgotten about. Our Provincial government is incompetent, corrupt and despicable.…

Global Hypocrites

Economy, Environment, People, Politics, Rants
In our present culture, celebrities such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Al Gore, Robert Redford and other multi-millionaire jet-setters are quite vocal about how the rest of us should live our lives. They advise us to sell our gas-guzzlers and buy an electric or hybrid car, exchange our incandescent light bulbs with annoying 'green' low-energy light bulbs, recycle our garbage, compost our kitchen scraps and generally spend an inordinate amount of our precious time taking care of mother earth. Fair enough, but what about THEM? What do THEY personally do to make our earth better? By all reports, very little except gorging themselves on our finite energy resources and having a blast in the process. This became abundantly clear when Al Gore was exposed as a green douche-bag when it was revealed…

The dumb B.C. taxpayer

The dumb B.C. taxpayer

Observations, Politics, The Law
With the recent guilty pleas and sentencing of David Basi and Bobby Virk for their part in the BC Rail corruption trial, it proves one thing that the present Liberal government has known for years and depend upon during every provincial election. That is that British Columbia tax payers are exceedingly dumb. Who else would believe that two senior government officials could accept $75,000 in inducements, plead guilty, receive a slap on the wrist and not pay a cent in legal fees. Yup...the taxpayer that foots the bill for this fiasco. This is the same province that is suffering under the weight of other stupid Liberal decisions such as the much-hated HST. Which begs the questions "How much is too much and when do we say enough?" The list of…

Another Asshole

Assholes, Observations, People, Rants
The world is full of assholes but I seem to run across my fair share on a regular basis. The newest recipient of the AprilRoad.com 'Asshole of the Week' award is Simon Swanwick, a New Jersey resident who managed to waste almost 5 hours of my time and have the audacity to berate me for it. This guy is truly a treat. Here's the story in a nutshell: I offer users of an open-source bulk email software system a variety of services including installation, configuration and tutoring. This idiot contacted me requesting I install the software on his web server, configure it and then walk him through the process of creating and sending messages. I should have been suspicious when he mentioned that a previous consultant had bailed on him…
