Remember the 2010 Winter Olympics? Remember how fun they were? Remember how much is cost? Well it continues to cost the taxpaying victims of VANOC's success well into the summer as the bills just keep rolling in. ICBC reports that over $2.3 million of damage was done to VANOC's fleet of General Motors vehicles used during the Olympics and Paralympics. The 4,791 vehicles suffered a variety of scratches, dents, crunches and smash-ups that will probably contribute to the cost of your automobile insurance. Don't ya just love these guys? As of May 5, there were 4,679 claims worth $2,300.392.34 when the vehicles were gathered at one location and inspected by claims personnel. Being Canadian is fantastic. We enjoy all the perks of being American without actually having to be American. Things like great food, great scenery, a stable government and a quality caffe latte on every street corner all contribute to our bliss and well being here in the glorious north. To put it simply, life in Canada is very, very good. But how do we tell America and the rest of the world just how great we are and how fantastic our country is without sounding like, dare I say, an American? An American point of view

So what did our American neighbours think of our little Olympic opening show? Well, some were not terribly impressed. Americans have a habit of making most things bigger and better than everyone else which is one of the reasons we love 'em so much. But Canadians are a bit more reserved and do just enough to get the point across without being showoffs. Let me put it this way, when Canada participates in global sporting events and wins a medal we're happy but we don't scream, we're polite but not completely reserved and feel bad as heck for the losers.
