Car Accident of the Month

Car Accident of the Month

Accident of the Month, Of Interest
During my trips back and forth between the Tri-Cities and Vancouver I tend to witness a fair number of motor vehicle accidents, from minor fender-benders to gory head-ons with fatalities. Which gave me the idea of incorporating a new feature on this blog, namely 'Car Accident of the Month', a pictorial representation of the most interesting and creative accidents I see. I'll start this feature with a dandy. This astute motorist managed to roll his/her car on to its side at the corner of Hastings and Cassiar on a clear, relatively dry day without the aid of movie special effects or even a capable stuntman. An obvious attention seeking showoff but worthy of this month's award, here's the first in a series of bonehead, vehicular missteps on the streets of…

The Coolest Place in the World

Entertainment, Of Interest, Travel
I've never thought of Grand Rapids, Michigan as a particularly cool tourist destination. That is until I saw this video, shot in a single, uninterrupted take (who has the balls to do this stuff?). And think about this while watching...imagine being the lone participant that screws up a cue and forces all to start over again. Not cool. Not cool at all.

A Suprising Outcome

A Suprising Outcome

Crime, Observations, Of Interest, People, The Law
Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas announced second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter charges against two L.A. County police officers for the beating death of Kelly Thomas. Officer Manuel Ramos was charged with one count each of second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter in the July 5, 2011 confrontation. Police Cpl. Jay Cicinelli was charged with one count each of involuntary manslaughter and excessive force. This is a suprising outcome as most were expecting a coverup of sorts and each of the officers involved to receive minor charges for their part in the beating. But D.A. Rackauckas, after much anticipation, announced the charges on September 22, 2011 and suggested there may be more charges against other officers involved. He said a review of the evidence showed Thomas was acting 'in self-defense, in…

My New Top Ten Website

My New Top Ten Website

Entertainment, Of Interest
After much work, many hours of Photoshop, coding and general tweaks I've finally launched my newest web site TopTenInPictures.com. I had the idea while creating the very same graphic layouts for The Province newspaper and, after witnessing the popularity of the image galleries, decided it might just work as a standalone website. Some of the galleries I created for the newspaper shot to the top of the list of most-viewed content after only a few minutes. It seemed that anything remotely gory, sexy or odd deemed the most attention so I've tried to do the same on my own site while maintaining a certain level of respectability. Which is hard when you're presenting the top ten largest breasts in the world or the top ten exotic dancers. Another issue is…
