Pirates are morons
It was bound to happen eventually given that most Somali pirates have the brains of a common stick insect. A group of these marauding miscreants prepared to attack what they thought was a commercial vessel in the Indian Ocean 1000 km off the coast of Somalia, but soon discovered their prey wasn't as defenseless as they first thought. They were bearing down on the French naval frigate Nivose, and discovered that very important fact too late to escape. The naval ship, who had been monitoring the pirates long before, launched it's own craft complete with a group of heavily armed commandos and an attack helicopter that fired rounds over the pirate's heads, convincing them to stop and be boarded. Needless to say these brainiacs are out of the pirating business…
Can’t we do better than this?
The recent provincial leadership debate makes me think that there must be better, more articulate people to run our province. Sure, it's tough to sell yourself in a short, controlled debate but neither of the three party heads handled themselves as well as I would expect. Carole James was typically confrontational and constantly attacking Campbell and his policies, offering little in the way of solutions or party direction. Campbell seemed to be uncomfortable, slightly unsettled and even a bit arrogant at times. Jane Sterk seemed to be...well...slightly odd. Neither seemed to be as articulate as I would expect and the debate seemed to be more about personal attacks than trying to do what's best for the residents of this province. Perhaps I've just been Obamacized but can't we do better…
