Not a chocolate bar
What's in a web site address? Obviously quite a lot after Mars Incorporated launched a new chocolate bar called Fling, a low calorie treat marketed primarily to women, and directed their prospective consumers to a web site. The obvious choice would be www.fling.com, correct? Nope. That site promotes infidelity by offering visitors a chance to connect with others looking for some extracurricular activities outside their present relationships. Not exactly chocolate bars but perhaps just as alluring for some. The same thing happened some time ago when the Dell Computer company launched a new blog called One2One but the obvious web site address pointed to a hardcore porn site. I'm guessing that they check the domain name before launching new products these days. I understand you can still hear the collective…
Greens not so green
It's ironic that the only discarded election sign I found littering our city was for the Green Party. You would think that, of all the political parties that plastered our city with their visual blight, The Green Party would ensure they picked up and recycled their election garbage? Perhaps if their signs could be rolled and smoked rather than recycled they would have been more vigilant. I have a new slogan suggestion for them...The Greens - Not really so green after all.
Producing Garbage
We purchased a patio set last month and it was finally delivered on Friday. The set includes a gazebo, a rectangular table with 6 chairs, a loveseat, two chairs and a coffee table and was delivered in 5 large boxes. My brother volunteered to help me assemble the set and we started mid Friday afternoon, worked for a few hours and started again late Saturday morning and finished at 3pm. The total assembly time was approximately 6 hours but the assembly was a snap compared to the cleanup. This included sorting and bagging the various end caps, plastic strapping, styrofoam, plastic bags, hardware bubble packs, French and English assembly instructions, packing slips and foam padding. The garbage filled two regular garbage bags. I removed packing tape, staples and delivery information…
