My time was my own. I had the freedom to spend leisurely hours after work and on the weekends doing what I wanted to do, some gardening, some home maintenance, dinner with friends. Life was good. Too good. I decided to change that by starting a podcast network. I've always been interested in podcasting and experimented with a lame attempt right here on AprilRoad.com a few years ago. They sucked. I was more enthralled with the technology than the content and the listener metrics told the sad story. Rainn Wilson of tv's The Office is a dick. Not because of his deadpan portrayal of Dwight Schrute, but because he was caught abusing twitter. (Get your mind out of the gutter...I'm talking about the Internet service.) We all know twitter is the annoying 140-character method people use to let other people know exactly what they're doing between bowel movements and has been heartily embraced by celebrities around the world. Something that many celebrity followers may not be aware of is that some of their idols are sending tweets promoting products and services and are being paid the big bucks by sponsors to do it. She's a bit wacky, a bit odd, and can sound like a scalded cat but Björk is anything but dull. I find her public persona a bit annoying and far too artsy-fartsy for my tastes but appreciate her talent and eclectic music sense. She's innovative and usually comes up with something that sounds little or nothing like anything else available. And that's a good thing in the midst of the bland, boring and predictable (yes, even YOU Gaga!) crap being spoon-fed to our young. A case in point is her newest music online offering which combines a cool iPad/iPhone app with her latest CD (does anyone even buy CDs anymore?).
