Some brainiac attempted to park a truck on the street at Suter Brook yesterday afternoon, leaving the rear end blocking the lane for 20 minutes and then had the balls to argue with The Port Moody Police after they issued her a ticket. The rear of the truck jutted into the lane forcing all traffic to navigate around this idiot's vehicle until she blessed Port Moody residents with her return. After blathering about her rights, amusing on-lookers, blocking the roadway for additional time and wasting our police resources she finally left. I can't believe anyone would actually argue the point after getting a ticket for such an obvious infraction and I'm amazed the cops actually let her prattle on for so long. It reminds me of the goof that was…

A Proud Parent

So Vancouver City Park Board Commissioner Constance Barnes thinks her father would be "proud" after driving her car into the side of a house while intoxicated, the resulting DUI charge and her sobbing admission of guilt and alcoholism? That got me to thinking about of a number of things I've done during my life that my father would have been exceedingly proud of: Walking out on a bad date and leaving her with the restaurant bill (drinks only...it didn't last long enough to order food) Discovering my fly was open during an entire job interview Watering my lawn on a few 'no watering' days Returning a suit after wearing it to a weekend wedding and reception (the cake and bridesmaid phone number in the breast pocket didn't help. Damn those…

A story in today's Province recounts an incident in Langley under the headline 'Racist attack ruins tennis game'. The story details are slightly sketchy to say the least. You be the judge... Six (count 'em...six!) Indo-Canadian men in their 20's were playing tennis at Jackman Park on 32nd Avenue just after 7:30pm when they were approached by three (count 'em...three!) young men and a woman who proceeded to shout racial slurs. One of the young men (let's refer to these future blights on society as the 'attackers') began kicking down a fence adjacent to the tennis court then headed back wielding the fence boards and a metal bar as weapons. The tennis players barricaded themselves inside the court but the attackers forced their way in and cornered them. One of…

Once again we have another refugee hiding in a church basement and thumbing their nose at our immigration system. Mikkhail Lennikov, a former member of the former Soviet Union's notorious KGB has settled in to his new digs in an East Vancouver church to wait out his extradition order. And once again our government refuses to enter the church and drag his butt to the closest airport. Canada will give up one of its own to the U.S. government for selling marijuana seeds to Americans but we can't remove an undesirable from a church. Where's the logic? Here's a few facts from Lennikov's immigration and refugee hearing that some may not be aware of: The board members noted Lennikov, a former leader of the Communist Youth League who worked for…
