My Automobile Wet Dream
I roamed the PNE fairgrounds last Saturday to view, dream and drool at the Vancouver Collector Car Show, Sale and Auction. If you like classic muscle cars, bizarre modifications and cool vintage emergency vehicles (yeah, really), then this show was for you.
There were hundreds of very cool cars inside and outside the PNE Fairgrounds, some for sale, some for auction and lots for show.
I took along my video camera and filled the drive with practically every car that caught my eye, and there was LOTS to catch my eye. Standouts included the 1966 VW Bus complete with a Cadillac 500 (509) V8, deluxe paint and orgasmic interior, a custom built 1954 Chevrolet Tourliner that has to be seen to believed and a spectacular 1959 Ford Skyliner convertible that will make you weep.
My absolute favourite was a 1968 Dodge Charger, black on black and complete with a beige rain jacket and pump action shotgun sitting in the front seat. It’s a car that personifies the muscle car era for me and gave every adolescent I knew back then an intense car boner. For those of you that don’t understand the connection between a 1968 Dodge Charger, a shotgun and a beige rain jacket, watch Steve McQueen’s classic car chase in Bullit. It’s a movie that has a very clear message for the car driving youth of today, which is ‘Shove your annoying Acura Integra drift cars and shitty Fiat 500’s up your ass’.
Sorry, but someone had to say that.
Have a look at the video below which highlights some of the more interesting vehicles I saw at this year’s show.
